Position Overview – Director, Data Analytics (Remote)

arenaflex is seeking a visionary Director of Data Analytics to lead our remote Data Entry and Virtual Assistant initiatives. This senior role sits within the Store Automation and Development team and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Store Development and Automation. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and govern a robust framework of key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the impact of our strategic initiatives, while championing data quality, governance, and storytelling across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Governance & Architecture: Define and maintain a comprehensive data source inventory, including business domain definitions, data classifications, storage locations, and data quality standards.
  • Strategic Insight Generation: Analyze complex business problems, challenge assumptions, and uncover root‑cause drivers to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Business Case Evaluation: Review and assess project proposals, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and align teams with the broader business strategy.
  • Visualization & Storytelling: Design and deliver compelling dashboards and visual narratives using tools such as Looker, ensuring insights are accessible to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, finance, and operations teams to translate analytical findings into actionable roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing analytics team, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present analytical results to senior leadership, clearly articulating the business impact of data trends and recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in data analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Proven expertise in SQL, Python, and large‑scale data platforms such as Hive or Spark.
  • Hands‑on experience building production‑grade dashboards using Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, business‑focused narratives for senior executives.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
  • Experience driving cross‑functional initiatives that deliver measurable business impact.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
