BookTok-First Social Media Manager: Romance Publishing Startup

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-22

We're a small team building tools and content for indie romance authors. We're looking for a BookTok-native social media manager to run our TikTok-first presence and, most importantly, to actively build relationships with other creators and authors in the romance community. We're starting from absolute zero. Handles are reserved, but there's nothing on them yet: no posts, no followers, no content. You'd be building this from the very first post. That's exactly why we want someone opinionated about how we set up social: how we position the account, which formats to commit to, what voice to use, who to engage. We don't want someone waiting for a playbook. Once we've aligned on the approach, you'll own clear goals and we'll track progress against them together. This is not a "schedule posts and disappear" role. We want someone who already lives in BookTok, knows the creators and the trends, and is genuinely comfortable showing up in other people's comments, DMs, duets, and stitches as a real human being. What you'll do - Run our TikTok (and cross-post to Reels/Shorts). - Directly engage the romance creator community with thoughtful comments, replies, DMs, and duets/stitches to build real relationships, not spam - Spot trending sounds, formats, and conversations on BookTok and adapt them to our niche fast - Manage our comments and DMs daily; reply in an authentic, on-brand voice - Track what's working (saves, shares, follows, watch-time) and tell us what to make more of - Flag creators and authors worth building relationships with Who you are - You're opinionated about social strategy. You have a point of view on how a brand-new account should be set up and grown, and you'll push back when you think we're wrong. You're comfortable building from zero and setting goals you'll own. - You already know BookTok cold: the creators, the tropes, the running jokes, the etiquette. You read romance, or you're deep enough in the community that you might as well. - You're comfortable engaging publicly and in DMs. Reaching out to other creators energizes you; it doesn't make you anxious. - You can make faceless short-form video that still feels personal (text-on-screen, voiceover, B-roll, duets).
