[Remote] Assistant Actuary Analyst

The Assistant Actuarial Analyst will support the actuarial team by conducting analyses, preparing reports, and communicating findings effectively to various audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support actuaries with analysis
  • Assist in preparing actuarial research and reports; present findings to peers and others
  • Analyze and create efficient methods for financial exhibits
  • Propose alternative analytic approaches
  • Clearly communicate technical actuarial work to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Conduct independent analysis, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for assigned projects. Identify potential issues/risks and research their estimated impact
  • Retrieve, understand, and manipulate data for various projects
  • Verify data quality, validity, and completeness
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math/applied math, statistics/applied statistics, or related field
  • Ability to analyze data and review moderately complex analyses from others
  • Willingness to learn new things, to understand why things are the way they are, to constantly expand knowledge in new topics
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and complete work and/or projects effectively
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to develop partnerships and work as a team member, while also being able to work independently
  • Passage of two or more actuarial exams with the goal of attaining ACAS/FCAS
  • Experience working with insurance companies or related businesses and knowledge about workers compensation being a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of data sources, tools, statistical principles, methodologies, and research techniques
  • Proficiency in analytical software such as Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, data visualization, etc.), SAS, Python, or R
