Job Summary

As an Experienced Lot Attendant – Customer Service Representative with Equipment Maintenance and Dispatch Expertise, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining and inspecting equipment, and dispatching and returning equipment to customers. You will work closely with our team to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of service and support, and that our equipment is in good working condition. This is a part-time position that offers a competitive hourly rate, opportunities for advancement, and a range of benefits and perks.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide exceptional customer service to customers inside and outside our U-Haul centers, answering questions and addressing concerns in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory, ensuring that equipment is accurately tracked and accounted for.
  • Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers, ensuring that they are properly secured and ready for use.
  • Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services, including equipment usage and safety procedures.
  • Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental, ensuring that all paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Install hitches and trailer wiring, and fill propane tanks as needed.
  • Drive a forklift, as required, and participate in ongoing continuous education through U-Haul University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participating in special projects and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

* Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience in customer service or a related field.

  • Experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with U-Scan technology and other U-Haul systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. You may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of remaining stationary, moving around indoors and outdoors, positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights, and moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 pounds, assisted or unassisted.
