Why You'll Love This Role

As a Ramp Agent at American Airlines, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo, baggage, and aircraft. You'll be responsible for performing various tasks on and off aircraft, trucks, containers, and trucks; moving cargo among terminals and aircraft; and receiving, delivering, weighing, and reporting cargo in a cargo-specific facility (warehouse) or a shipping bay area. Key Responsibilities

• Move cargo and baggage of various weights to and from aircraft
• Drive and operate belt loaders, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of cargo
• Service aircraft at gates with ground power and cooling, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for passengers
• Tow and pushback aircraft from gates, requiring attention to detail and precision
• Service aircraft lavatories and water ports, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment
• Clean the interior of aircraft when required, ensuring a pleasant flying experience for our customers
• Position catering and baggage trucks around the ramp area, coordinating with other teams to ensure smooth operations
• Work outside in various weather conditions, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
• Work shifts that include irregular and/or extended hours, weekends, and holidays, requiring a commitment to teamwork and flexibility

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• The ability to lift, load, dump, and transport bags and cargo to/from aircraft, baggage trucks, and conveyor lines
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software applications
• A people-oriented and highly energetic attitude, with a positive and helpful demeanor
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A valid driver's license as required by local authorities
• The ability to obtain airport security and/or US Customs security clearances, if applicable
• Completion of a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive personal background check, and/or fingerprinting to meet company and security requirements
• The ability to obtain a jet bridge certification
• The ability to pass the US Postal Service background check

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the aviation industry
• Knowledge of aircraft handling and safety procedures
• Certification in aircraft towing and pushback operations
