Essential Job Functions: Architect and build reliable, efficient, scalable, and maintainable data pipelines to ingest and process data. Take ownership of significant parts of the data team's solution development. Onboard, document and curate external datasets for internal usage. Engage in data interpretation and forensic data analysis and troubleshooting. Produce high-quality, tested, maintainable, and readable code, and improve the existing codebase. Contribute to the peer review process to ensure code quality. Demonstrate end-to-end understanding of the data pipeline’s ETL processes and how they fit into the overall application architecture. Collaborate closely with stakeholders and researchers to support analytical and product use cases Evaluate data sources to understand the content and how it fits with our feature requirements, identifying missing or erroneous data. Architect and build data pipelines which fetch data from public and private data suppliers’ APIs, S3 buckets, and web interfaces in various formats (e.g., JSON, CSV, Excel, PDF, Parquet), join geographical shapes with data from multiple sources, and perform various transformations. Create programmatically validated data schemas, as well as human-readable documentation, to specify requirements to our partners. Explore alternate data engineering technologies and solutions. Other activities as may be assigned by your manager Qualifications/ Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Experienced professional with 5+ years of industry and/or relevant experience, typically at a Senior Analyst or Analyst level role or external equivalent Portfolio of past experience (e.g., demos of past work, contributions to open source, blogs, talks). Self-motivated, creative, inquisitive. Great attention to detail. Good communication skills and a team player. Proficient in Python: demonstrated experience working in teams of Python developers on large projects. Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures. Experience with building features using test-driven development. Solid experience using Git for version control. Solid grasp of data concepts (relational databases, data cleansing, validation). Understanding basic statistics. Experience working with Agile methods based on fast iteration and validation cycles. Note: This job description is not intended to be all inclusive or exclusive.
