Financial Planning Intern

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-17

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern who is a graduate or soon-to-be graduate from a financial planning (or related) program. This individual should have a strong interest in financial planning, be pursuing or want to pursue the CFP, have strong communication skills (including writing), be a self-starter, a team player, and know how to take initiative in a small organization. In addition, we have a unique focus on tax planning, so a background in tax/accounting is a plus. While no prior experience is necessary, the ideal candidate will have already completed (or soon to complete) a CFP-approved education program. They should also be eager to learn, adaptable, and excited to contribute to various aspects of our firm’s operations. In our ideal scenario, the candidate will transition to a full-time associate at the end of the internship period, with future advancement opportunities as they pass the CFP and progress in the field. What You’ll Gain: As a Financial Planning Intern at Symphony Wealth, you’ll wear many hats, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of roles. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about:

  • Comprehensive financial planning for entrepreneurs and ultra-high-net-worth families.
  • Tax planning for complex situations
  • The intricacies of exit planning and "multi-family office" capabilities.
  • Marketing and business development initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meeting Preparation:
  • Update client records.
  • Prepare and review financial planning reports for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Financial Advisor to enhance reports for maximum client impact.
  • Client Meetings:
  • Attend client meetings with Senior Advisor and take detailed notes.
  • Work with the Client Service Manager (CSM) and Senior Advisor to execute important client initiatives.
  • Marketing Administrative Support:
  • Collaborate with the Senior Advisor, CSM, and external vendors to manage social media content, blog posts, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.
  • Research:
  • Conduct research on complex financial planning topics under the direction of the Senior Advisor.
  • Prepare investment portfolio reports using industry-standard software. Review and analyze with Senior Advisor.
  • Ad Hoc Projects:
  • Assist with various business initiatives as needed, gaining exposure to multiple aspects of our firm’s operations.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in financial planning
  • Recent graduate or soon-to-be graduate from a financial planning program. Or, interest or current enrollment in the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) education program with relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a small, collaborative team environment.
  • A positive attitude and “can do” spirit are a must.

Additional Information: This is a part-time internship lasting 10-15 weeks depending on your preferences and firm needs. Hours are flexible, ranging from 10-30 hours per week. All necessary training will be provided. At the end of the internship, we would ideally like to bring you on as a full-time Financial Planning Support Associate, which does require full-time relocation to the Atlanta area. The full-time position provides further opportunities for advancement if/when the you pass the CFP and gain experience. Note: there's no guarantee of receiving an offer for full-time employment beyond the internship and any such offer would depend on performance and firm needs. How to Apply: If you’re ready to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment, please send your resume and a brief cover letter to [email protected]. Be sure to visit our website at www.symphonywealth.net to learn more about our firm. We look forward to hearing from you! Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
