Backend Improvement Engineer - Remote Opportunity

We're seeking a highly skilled Backend Improvement Engineer to join our team at Disney+ Hotstar, India's leading streaming platform. As a key member of our Stage group, you will oversee the improvement of numerous basic stages related to sound/video organization, real-time highly concurrent Live games, and VOD (Video On Demand) content across the globe.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the improvement of our backend systems, ensuring seamless content ingestion and distribution, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive success. You will apply your technical expertise to solve complex problems, set best practices, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the improvement of backend systems, ensuring high scalability and low latency
• Apply technical expertise to solve complex problems and set best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in recruiting top talent
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and senior specialists
• Analyze complex issues and break them down into manageable deliveries
• Participate in on-call activities, identify repeat patterns, and take proactive measures to fix underlying issues

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Python/Golang
• Experience building high-scale distributed systems
• Experience designing and building low-latency and high-scale microservices
• Proficiency with code formatting tools like Github
• Experience with datastores, including RDBMS, NoSQL, and caching layers (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Experience building asynchronous systems using Kafka/Message brokers
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Harness/GoCD

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a reputable institution
• 5+ years of experience in backend software development
