Senior Software Engineer (Remote) - $27-$35/Hour

About the Role: As a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on Big Data, you'll utilize your software development expertise and strong analytical skills to build and enhance our industry-leading tools. Your day-to-day work will involve designing and developing software solutions using Java, Python, SQL, Big Data, Linux, git, and gradle.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, Lead Engineers, and the Head of Software Development to design, build, and test new products and features
• Write code in Java using your preferred IDE
• Work independently or in small team projects
• Participate in requirement gathering and design meetings
• Participate in peer code reviews
• Investigate and optimize code for usability, performance, and scalability

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Advanced and demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Proficient programming experience in an enterprise setting
• High-volume transactional environment experience
• 4+ years of software development experience as a Java engineer
• 2+ years of software development experience as a Python developer
• A strong understanding of computer systems, the Internet, databases, and the Java programming language
• Experience with fundamental programming constructs (conditionals, loops, data structures)
• Strong relational database skills (SQL, JDBC - Oracle, and PostgreSQL preferred)

Preferred Skills

• SQL databases like MapR DB, HBase, Cassandra
• Big Data components/frameworks like Hadoop (MapR), Spark, Yarn, Kafka, Flink, ELK, etc.
• Big Data querying tools like Drill, Voila, Hive, Ojai, etc.
