Job Description

Position Summary: As a Care Companion, you will provide remote observational support to patients utilizing our state-of-the-art Remote Sitter camera monitoring system. You will work closely with our patient care team to identify potential safety risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. Your excellent communication skills and ability to interact with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals will be essential in this role. You will also assist with simple projects under the supervision of a nurse manager, contributing to the overall success of our team.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or GED required
• Technical Skills: Comfortable using computers and willing to learn new technology
• Experience: Care Companion or Sitter experience preferred, but not required; professional communication and teamwork skills are essential

Essential Functions:

• Perform remote observation of patients and alert the patient care team to potential safety risks
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient activity, behavior, and response to redirection attempts
• Communicate effectively with patients, using redirection tactics to decrease potential safety events
• Maintain patient privacy and dignity, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and demonstrating compassionate communication techniques
• Demonstrate adherence to Guthrie values of Patient Centeredness, Teamwork, and Excellence

Other Duties:

• Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance service and patient care
• Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures during emergent situations
• Seek supervision and guidance when appropriate
