Managing Editorial Assistant - Penguin Workshop

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Managing Editorial Assistant to join our Penguin Workshop team in a remote capacity. As a key member of our editorial department, you will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our editorial process, from manuscript development to production. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Managing Editorial department, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and data entry.
  • Set up and maintain title metadata and schedules in SAP and FileMaker Pro, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Coordinate cover approvals, production schedules, on-sale dates, and pricing, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage reprint corrections, ensuring accuracy and quality in production.
  • Create barcodes, review eBooks for formatting, content accuracy, and overall quality.
  • Review contract status, royalty rates, and download files for various divisional needs.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings with Editorial, Copyediting, Design, and Production departments.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact across various departments.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Passion for children's books and eagerness to learn about the bookmaking process.
