Principal Cloud Architect (REMOTE)

As a valued member of Stryker’s AI innovation unit, you will work alongside trailblazers, industry visionaries, innovators, and inventors who are committed to bringing computer vision, AI/ML and digital innovation to the operating room and other healthcare settings. You’ll contribute to fast-paced cycles of innovation and develop core technologies that power a wide array of Stryker’s solutions, including: surgical robotics and navigation, image-guided surgery, treatment selection, outcome assessment, and clinical decision intelligence. You will apply your core skills across a range of deployment platforms spanning from mobile applications, cloud services, and SDKs to embedded systems, edge devices, and mixed reality (XR) platforms. You will have an opportunity to work across a wide variety of therapeutic areas ranging from orthopedics and neurosurgery to emergency care and operating room safety and efficiency – plus many more. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Cloud Architect to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions on the Azure platform. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, develop cloud architecture strategies, and ensure the successful implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure cloud services, application development, and infrastructure management.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather project requirements, understand business objectives, and develop cloud architecture strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Design, build, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions on the Azure platform, with a focus on scalability, security, and cost-efficiency
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of Azure cloud services and tools.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to cloud architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with software engineering and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud infrastructure with application development and deployment processes.
  • Monitor and analyze cloud infrastructure performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members on Azure cloud services, best practices, and architecture principles, while staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure cloud technologies and services.
  • Assist in the development and management of project budgets and resource allocation, while ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and governance policies and requirements.

What You Need (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relatable field of study, plus 8+ years of relevant work experience in cloud architecture, preferably with a focus on the Azure platform.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud services, including but not limited to Compute, Storage, Networking, Security, and Management services.
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and optimizing scalable and cost-effective cloud solutions.
  • Familiarity with application development technologies such as .NET, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert are a bonus.
  • Developing software under ISO-1345 a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
