About the position The Financial Planning and Performance Analyst position at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation is a critical role within the Corporate Planning/Financial Performance department. This position is based in either the Topeka General Office or the Kansas City Headquarters and is designed to provide essential financial support to various business functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and relevant financial information and analysis that will inform and influence decision-making processes across the organization. This role emphasizes the importance of customer service, as the analyst will act as a financial partner and resource for the supported business functions. Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and input of annual budgets, conducting monthly variance analysis, and providing management feedback regarding budget versus actual variances. The analyst will also support regulatory initiatives by responding to data requests and assist in the preparation of monthly financial outlooks. Additionally, the role involves supporting the administration of the Hyperion Planning system and working on various projects as assigned. The position requires a combination of remote and in-office work, with specific in-office days designated for collaboration and meetings. Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field, with a preference for experience in budgeting, financial modeling, or analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with MS Office and Hyperion Tools is essential, while experience with PowerPlan, Peoplesoft, and Work Management systems is considered a plus. The working conditions are hybrid, allowing for flexibility in work location, and occasional travel may be required within the Kansas City and Topeka regions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to the business functions by delivering timely, accurate, and relevant financial information and analysis.

  • Provide monthly variance analysis for all levels of the organization and offer management feedback on budget/actual variances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field.

  • Prefer experience working with budgets, financial modeling or analysis, or related accounting functions.

  • An advanced degree in a related area, certification, or equivalent years of industry-specific experience is preferred.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Initiative to research and ask questions to complete open-ended projects with little direction.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Good understanding of accounting and financial principles and solid working knowledge of financial statements.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Hyperion Tools.

  • Experience with PowerPlan, Peoplesoft & Work Management systems is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and cross-functionally within the organization.

  • Strong communication skills to relate to professionals at all levels, including senior management.
