Academic Tutor

The Club is looking for an individual with a passion for education to join us as a part-time tutor to assist our student-athletes. The tutor will provide in-person and/or online tutoring on various academic subjects. The tutor will also address the needs of diverse learners; serve as a positive mentor, and interact with students and school faculty and staff. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interacts with students on a one-on-one basis and in small groups, assisting with their schoolwork and tutoring in various academic subjects.
• Tracks student progress by following through with each student, and recording successes and/or problem areas.
• Maintains consistent and effective communication with RSL Academy and school staff.
• Motivates students to succeed through positive reinforcement and being a good role model.
• Maintain a positive learning environment
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary school.
• Knowledge of and competence in tutoring various core subject areas.
• Ability to collaborate with students to enhance their knowledge in high school-level courses
• Ability to use initiative and demonstrate dependability.
• Ability to pass a background test.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual in English/Spanish and comfortable in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
• Specialization in education or experience as a high school teacher, learning interventionalist, or lesson planner preferred.
• Prior experience working with students on an Individualized Education Program (IEP)

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 5 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 10 pounds or exerting heavy force in a wide disparity or environmental conditions.
