Freelance Social Media Video Editor - YouTube (Contract)

Study.com is the leading educational website that offers education, test prep, and academic resources to students, teachers, and adult learners. We are seeking a Video Editor with experience creating videos for YouTube. The Video Editor supports video creators and project team members to create impactful and engaging YouTube videos. This is a long-term remote contractor role and pays per-piece.

• You will reliably edit provided raw footage to produce YouTube-friendly output - final videos are typically 5-20 minutes
• Your videos will follow style and branding requirements according to provided rubric
• You will source or generate high-quality visual and audio elements that are free of copyright restrictions
• You’ll add text overlays, motion graphics, and other visual effects to produce an engaging video for intended audiences
• You will collaborate with the project team to implement high-quality, engaging visuals

Required Skills:

• 2+ years’ experience producing social media videos, including for YouTube (please provide a link to your portfolio, sample videos, and/or YouTube channel)
• Understanding of copyright-safe sourcing for all content and able to work with both real media and AI-generated elements
• Production requirements include minimum of 2 videos/week, with turnaround time of 4 days max (24 hours for revisions)
• Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual appeal for YouTube videos

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Degree or education in film or video editing/production specific to social media videos
• Additional plugins for eye contact correction, color balance, generative AI tools
• Professional certification in social media video production
• Experience with Wistia and Smartsheets

• Reliable Payments: You'll receive payments twice a month and automated invoicing for your work.
• Remote Work: This is a fully online contracted work-from-home opportunity.
• Flexibility: We ask for at least two edited videos per week, but work according to your own schedule.
• Support: Our supportive staff is available answer your questions and help you get up and running.

The Contract Process

1. Complete the application and submit with your resume.
2. Applications are approved and contracts sent on Wednesdays.
3. Submit the contract within the 5-day signing window.
4. The following Wednesday, you’ll receive onboarding instructions.
