Staff / Principal Backend Engineer, Golang

We’re looking for a Staff /Principal Backend Engineer that will work directly with a stellar team to help us build core software components that enable our team to quickly build and deploy complex software. You will have the opportunity to proactively solve unique problems and build software and systems that act as force multipliers for our development teams. This role is onsite based in San Francisco or New York.

What You'll Do

As a staff / principal Backend Engineer at Aescape you will

  • Design and implement scalable, robust APIs in Golang that power our main applications.

  • Develop and optimize data pipelines to process, analyze, and deliver critical business insights.

  • Enforce best practices in coding, testing, and documentation across the team.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in both development and production environments.

  • Contribute to architectural discussions and strategic planning for our backend ecosystem.

  • Be diligent, curious, and take complete ownership of your code end-to-end with a clear sense of urgency. 

  • Leverage data-driven insights to refine system performance and functionality.

  • Drive data-informed decisions by leveraging analytics to refine system performance.

  • Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to shape innovative features.

What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years of demonstrated proficiency in at least one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, or similar). 

  • Degree in-or experience equivalent to Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering. 

  • Strong understanding of database design and modeling (e.g., PostgreSQL).

  • Proven track record developing scalable systems and RESTful services.

  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.

  • Understanding of automated testing, deployment processes, and tools.

  • Bias toward action - iteratively creating solutions and deploying to production frequently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work hybrid in our NYC or SF offices.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.). Familiarity with machine learning, signal processing, or computer vision algorithms.

  • Experience analyzing data from IoT devices or robotics sensors.

  • Flexibility to tackle diverse projects across software, data, and machine learning.
