POSITION OVERVIEW About the Position... The primary goal is to provide comprehensive instruction in social studies at the middle and high school levels, adhering to Arizona state standards. Utilizing online resources and instructional methodologies, the teacher will facilitate student learning, monitor progress, and maintain effective communication channels with students and parents in the online learning environment. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education • Bachelor’s degree in education or closely related field Experience • 2 years of teaching experience in a classroom or online Other Requirements • Must possess or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate by the time of hire. • Must posses or have the ability to posses a valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Preferred Requirements • 3 or more years teaching experience in a classroom or online. ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS • Develop and deliver engaging content and skills instruction in social studies, encompassing various historical periods, geographical regions, and sociopolitical concepts. • Encourage critical thinking and independent analysis among students, fostering the expression of original ideas and perspectives. • Provide personalized instruction, including small group sessions, to address the diverse learning needs of students and student subgroups. • Assess student academic growth, prepare final grades, and maintain accurate academic and administrative records. • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address student needs related to learning, health, and attitudes within the online classroom setting. • Adapt social studies material and teaching methods to create relevant, sequential assignments and lessons suitable for online instruction. • Develop courses and supplementary materials that align with state social studies standards and promote student engagement. • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior conducive to positive interactions and productive learning outcomes. • Communicate regularly with parents and school staff to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns or questions. • Participate actively in faculty meetings and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. • Administer standardized testing in accordance with state requirements and school testing protocols, potentially involving travel within Arizona. • Develop and deploy courses within the Learning Management System, ensuring timely completion and alignment with established standards and deadlines. Working Conditions Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
