• What We Do • Language • Training & E-Learning • Analytics • Publishing • Who We Are • People • Principles • Teaming & Partnerships • Careers • Career Opportunities • Working at JTG • Life at JTG • Contact • Portal My Account Job Openings >> Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and Interpreters Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and Interpreters Summary Title: Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and Interpreters ID: 1890 Department: Language Location: New York Description Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and Interpreters JTG is currently seeking translators, transcribers, and interpreters between English and one or more of the following languages: Belarusian, Cape Verdean, Catalan, Cebuano, Enping, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hausa, Hindko, Icelandic, Igbo, Indonesian, Japanese, Jamaican Patois, Haitian Creole, Kazakh, Khmer, Korean, Kurdish, Kyrgyz, Lao, Malayalam, Montenegrin, Nepali, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Samoan, Sindhi, Somali, Spanish, Sudanese, Swahili, Taishanese, Tajik, Tigrinya, Thai, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Western Punjabi, Yiddish, Yoruba Location: • Remote (translation and transcription) • Remote or onsite in Washington, DC; New York City, NY; Miami, FL; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; San Francisco, CA (interpreting) Status: Freelance contractor Citizenship Status: U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. (dual citizenship permitted) Responsibilities: • Provide accurate translation of documents involving law enforcement and legal subjects • Transcribe audio files and translate them into target language • Communicate fluently in English orally and in writing • Translate in accordance with designated style and quality standards • Use domain-specific terminology • Review the quality of other translators' work as needed • Interpret accurately, while preserving the tone and register, and abiding by the code of ethics. Basic Qualifications: • Proficient in translating between English and a foreign language • Proficient in interpreting between English and a foreign language • Experience in audio transcription • Experience as a professional translator, editor, transcriber, interpreter, journalist, writer, or legal professional • Familiarity with legal terminology • Willing to undergo a US government background check • Proficient in Microsoft Office Preferred qualifications: • Law degree, paralegal certificate, or court interpreting experience • Experience with editing, audio transcription, or interpreting • Security clearance Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience This position reports to the Project Manager.
