Director, Business Development
Job Description:The Director, Business Development - Contract Logistics will drive new business growth by identifying and pursuing top regional and industry opportunities, leveraging deep customer insights to build strong relationships and create tailored solutions.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops and executes a comprehensive development plan aimed at identifying the top country/regional/industry opportunities and expanding business to new and/or current customers
- Generates qualifiable leads and opportunities from the development plan in the respective territory
- Identifies and develops relationships with key decision makers at all levels with the respective customer
- Understands the customer's business (strategically, operationally, financially, hierarchy) and understands the customer's buying process while identifying all influences, intimately understanding their needs, requirements, and company standing
- Works across DP World to create solutions that deliver value to our customers
- Qualifies and quantifies potential growth opportunities while managing respective timelines by informing DP World relevant stakeholders on same
- Drive the “how to win” plan on opportunities
- Leverages internal (DP World) and external (customer) resources (solution experts, industry experts, operations, executive support) to assist in developing accounts
- Maintains an open dialogue with the account executive sponsor and keeps the sponsor engaged/informed on the account
- Maintains an up-to-date pipeline of current and future opportunities, quantifying number of opportunities, value of the opportunity and managing the probability to win
- Own the commercial relationship and contract negotiations with customer for all new business opportunities and wins while partnering with colleagues in other regions on broader opportunities for select customers as needed
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Engineering, and/or Supply Chain preferred. Masters degree a plus
- Must have at least 10years of applicable Vertical Market/ industry experience in supply chain/logistics and have a track record of 5 years in winning new clients within respective global industry market
- Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of applicable Industry Vertical quality standards such as TS-16949 and industry quality system tools i.e. AQP, FMEAs, Control Plans, Poke Yoke/Mistake Proofing, PPAP, Run at Rate, Root Cause Analysis/8D-5D Corrective Action, PPM targets, SPC, Continuous Improvement Action Plans
- Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of applicable Vertical Market advanced manufacturing and supply chain models such as Lean manufacturing, Flexible manufacturing lines, In Line Vehicle Sequencing (ILVS), CKD, Returnable Packaging, JIT/VMI, Containment Action Plans
- Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of applicable Vertical Market contractual requirements of supply base such as year over year cost down commitments, non-performance/downtime charge backs, liability/risks i.e. handling inverted delta/safety related parts (brake systems, air bags), electronic invoice and payment, YOY cost down commitments, performance/downtime charge backs, Pain/Gain share models, etc.
- Experience in developing opportunities across the supply chain (Air, Ocean, Land/Truck and Contract Logistics services)
- Ability to travel up to 70%
