Teacher Assistant - Special Education
Job Description:Supplemental Health Care is a national hiring partner for schools across the United States. We work with districts in more than 24 states to hire thousands of school professionals every year. Currently, we’re in need of a Paraprofessional to work in a school located in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students may take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.
- $23-$28 an hour*
- Participate in the instructional program under the direction of a certified teacher
- Work with groups of children based on grade level
- Work with children in learning centers and assist in the preparation and care of learning materials
- Assist in preparing classroom displays and bulletin boards
- Communicates relevant information regarding student’s behavior with parents
- Assist students with feeding, diapering, or toileting and charts time
- Care for classroom equipment and materials and may operate audio-visual equipment
- Assist with lunch, snack, and clean-up routine and assist children with clothing management based on grade level
- Participate in In-service training programs as required
- Assist certified teacher with classroom activities as directed
- Prepare training aids for the classroom as required
- Work with children with special needs

- 48 college credits, AA Degree, or Passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment
- 2 years of experience working with young children
- Experience working with children with special needs, physical/mental disabilities, or behavior management
- Proficient in the use of standard computer applications
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with existing staff
