World Relief seeks a Childcare Assistant to work with the Family Literacy Coordinator to provide childcare and educational experiences for refugee and immigrant children on Mondays-Thursdays from 4-7pm while their parents participate in an onsite ESL program at World Relief Western New York

Role & Responsibilities
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Supervise babies and children of various cultural backgrounds and ages, especially 0-3-year-olds
- Actively engage children in recreational and learning activities, group games and creative play
- Help children learn and discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, books, puzzles, games, etc.
- Coordinate small group of volunteers to assist in providing childcare for 0-3-year-olds
- Facilitate the sign-in and sign-out of children by parents
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment for children, including one that includes no bullying or violent play
- Engage parents for instances of child misbehavior, soiled diapers, extreme discontent, or other issues as needed
- Abide by mandatory reporting laws and document any behavioral or accidental incidents
- Ensure childcare space is clean and free of hazards
- Closely coordinate with the Family Literacy Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Deeply committed to the care and welfare of children
- Ability to be flexible to respond to changing needs of children and families of various cultures and languages.
- Basic spoken English
- Experience working with children ages 0-3 required.
- Experience working with children ages 4+ preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Mature and personal Christian faith
