2025 Infrastructure Engineering Internship - Remote

About the position We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Symetra's 2025 Infrastructure Engineering Internship and be part of our digital transformation journey. We are seeking a motivated Infrastructure Engineering Intern to assist our IT teams in designing, maintaining, and optimizing our organization's IT infrastructure. This internship provides hands-on experience with network systems, cloud platforms, and hardware solutions. Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2025 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks, running from May 19 - August 8 or June 16 - September 5.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in System Administration: Support the maintenance and monitoring of servers, networks, and cloud environments.

  • Network and Security Support: Help troubleshoot network issues, configure devices, and ensure system security compliance.

  • Infrastructure Deployment: Assist in setup and deployment of IT infrastructure, including hardware, virtualization, and cloud services.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Assist in tracking system performance and suggest improvements.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain infrastructure documentation, including system configurations and troubleshooting guides.

  • Collaboration and Troubleshooting: Work with senior engineers to diagnose and resolve IT-related issues.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of networking, cloud computing, and system administration.

,

  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows operating systems, virtualization, and cloud platforms.

,

  • Good understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
