Teacher Assistant

A private progressive school in Queens, NY is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support our educators in delivering high-quality instruction and fostering an engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and staff to ensure smooth classroom operations and enhance the overall learning experience. Responsibilities: Classroom Support Assist the lead teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities. Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students who need additional assistance. Prepare materials, set up equipment, and organize classroom supplies as needed. Student Engagement Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Supervise students during group activities, recess, or field trips. Support students? academic, social, and emotional development. Administrative Tasks Help maintain accurate student records, such as attendance and assessment data. Distribute and collect homework, worksheets, and other materials. Assist in grading assignments and providing feedback under teacher supervision. Classroom Management Monitor student behavior and enforce classroom rules consistently. Address minor disruptions to ensure a productive learning environment. Report significant concerns to the lead teacher or appropriate staff. Collaboration and Professional Growth Work closely with teachers and other staff to align on lesson plans and classroom strategies. Attend staff meetings and professional development workshops as required. Stay updated on educational tools, technologies, and best practices. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or coursework in education is preferred. Prior experience in a teaching assistant role or working with children is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Organizational and multitasking skills.
