Summary

The Stainless Steel TIG Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling stainless steel structures, equipment, and misc. projects. Stainless Steel TIG Welders use welding machines, cutting machines, rollers and press brakes, along with measuring and layout tools to produce metal parts and assemblies according to customer or employer specifications either in the field or in the shop. The work is performed in an efficient manner while maintaining safety and quality expectations. Must keep building and/or assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized as necessary to maintain a Safe and productive working environment. ? Ensures that proper Safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman/Plant Manager or Senior Project Manager. Fabricating Functions ? Functional use of press brake, shear, Iron Worker, rolling machines & saws. ? Blueprint reading capability. ? Experience taking something from concept to drawing to completion. ? Overall mechanically inclined. ? Ability to measure and differentiate types of materials. Welding & Cutting Functions ? Mastery of 304, 310 & 316 Stainless Steel TIG welding. ? Working knowledge of MIG welding. ? Create welds that meet AWS standards. ? Clean surrounding areas of any weld splatter. ? Ensure no porosity or defects in welds. ? Working knowledge of hand held torch and plasma cutting. ? Other duties as assigned. Competencies ? Communicate proficiently. ? Good decision making skills. ? Ability to learn new tasks, functions or processes. ? Able to work in the shop or in the field as required. ? Technical and mechanical capacity is a must. ? Thoroughness and Pride in workmanship required. ? Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints. ? Ability to communicate and report effectively. ? Problem-solving abilities. ? Clean driving record. Work Environment ? The work is regularly performed in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. ? Occasional exposure to a variety of extreme and loud conditions at construction job sites. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. ? Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting heavy objects, walking and standing for long periods of time and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. ? Lifts, push, pull or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jump, sprint or throw objects. ? Excellent stamina, good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination required. ? Capable of frequently lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving items up to 100 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting time will change depending on the job. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Potential travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
