Senior Staff Engineer, Native Platform

The Community You Will Join: The Developer Platform team is responsible for the infrastructure powering full lifecycle (build, test, and deploy) for all developers at Airbnb. We also look after higher level APIs and tools, all aiming to improve developer experience and effectiveness. Our vision is to enable Airbnb developers to apply their energy and creativity towards building and operating useful, high-quality software, without having to deal with unnecessary complexities or delays. The Difference You Will Make: • be responsible for driving technical strategy, alignment, and execution for improving the iOS and Android developer experience at Airbnb • be a key member of the leadership team of Developer Platform • help shape the overall strategy and success for the whole organization • partner with leaders across Airbnb to ensure our offerings truly serve our customer needs As a very senior technical individual contributor, you will bring a unique skill set and experience to our... organization, and work to solve some of the broader technical challenges in native developer experience. Additionally, you will lend expertise to specific teams and deep dive into projects as needed. Our engineering organization is one where we value everyone’s input and ideas. Even at a senior level, all Software Engineers at Airbnb are expected to be hands on, and contribute code. A Typical Day: • Drive the continued development of a long term technical strategy for iOS and broader native developer experience • Bring technical expertise to decision making and architecture, having a keen eye for constraints while building the best solution • Apply data-driven approach to measuring developer productivity and effectiveness, having an intense product oriented focus on customer needs and success • Identify foundational opportunities impacting native product developers through a deep appreciation of business use-cases • Elevate level of iOS expertise at Airbnb • Uplevel and support others with servant leadership, mentorship, advocacy, and allyship • Work cross functionally to align technical initiatives and decisions Your Expertise: • 12+ years relevant industry experience in a fast paced environment • Exceptional abilities and experience building well-designed APIs • Experience setting technical direction, planning, and successfully executing on large projects spanning multiple teams • Proven impact on developer productivity and tooling • Ability to create a culture of technical excellence • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proven track record of working effectively across teams and organizations Your Location: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
