Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe multi-speaker audio recordings completely, accurately, and in adherence to formatting standards and quality requirements
• Meet established deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity

Essential Qualifications

To be successful as a Freelance Legal Transcriptionist with U.S. Legal Support, you'll need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• Experience as a Legal Transcriber, with a strong understanding of transcription principles and best practices
• Fast and accurate typing and word processing skills, with a minimum of 50 words per minute
• Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Proofreading and editing skills, with the ability to review and revise transcripts for accuracy and quality
• Aptitude for discerning challenging audio and accented speech, with the ability to transcribe complex recordings with ease
• Processing and responding well to quality feedback, with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Reliably meeting established deadlines, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Experience working with audio and video files, including digital audio workstations and video editing software
• Knowledge of court reporting and litigation support software, including Engage and other proprietary platforms
• Experience working with diverse client bases, including attorneys, law firms, and corporate clients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients
• Experience with quality control and assurance processes, including review and revision of transcripts

Equipment and Software Requirements To perform your duties as a Freelance Legal Transcriptionist with U.S. Legal Support, you'll need to have the following equipment and software:

• Up-to-date PC with Microsoft operating system (10+), anti-virus protection, and Word (2016+)
• High-speed internet connection
• Foot pedal and headset (and audio player for legal work)
• Proficient, self-sufficient hardware and software use and maintenance
