This is more than just a job — it's an invitation to become part of a fast-growing, highly collaborative engineering community that thrives on technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning. If you love solving complex data challenges, designing scalable architectures, and partnering with business leaders to drive measurable outcomes, this role is tailor-made for you.
About the Role
As a Data Engineer on the Ads Data Engineering team at arenaflex, you will sit at the heart of building a sophisticated data ecosystem that powers our understanding of how advertising influences our rapidly expanding business. You will be an integral member of a larger data engineering organization within the Content and Studio Data Engineering organization, surrounded by brilliant engineers who value mentorship, knowledge sharing, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with data.
Your primary focus will be designing, developing, and maintaining rich, connected, and easily accessible datasets that capture critical information about ad inventory, forecasting, targeting, and overall advertising performance. These foundational data assets will be consumed across multiple business areas and functions — from powering business intelligence dashboards to fueling feature engineering for advanced statistical models. The scope of this work is growing rapidly, offering you unprecedented opportunities to shape arenaflex's exciting journey into the advertising space.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Build Core Data Models: Architect, strengthen, and extend the foundational data models that our Ads functions rely on to answer critical business questions. You will envision how disparate data elements from multiple sources fit together cohesively and bring that vision to life.
- Own Critical Data Assets: Take full ownership of key components of arenaflex's Ads data model. Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, design tables using programming and data warehousing best practices, and build robust data pipelines that ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.
- Partner with Analytics and Science Teams: Work hand-in-hand with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to create intuitive, well-structured datasets that serve a wide range of analytical and reporting needs.
- Establish Governance Best Practices: Develop and implement best practices for the management of datasets containing sensitive information, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and internal security standards.
- Build Strong Collaborative Networks: Cultivate meaningful partnerships with data scientists, analytics engineers, and machine learning experts to foster a culture of shared learning and innovation.
- Champion Data Quality: Be a passionate advocate for data quality, working tirelessly to deliver accurate, reliable, and impactful data products that drive business decisions.
- Optimize for Scale and Performance: Build highly performant data pipelines and continuously optimize existing workflows to accommodate new features, growing data volumes, and evolving business needs.
Who You Are
Beyond technically capable, you are curious, creative, and persistent. You hold deeply considered beliefs but remain open to hearing all sides of a conversation, adapting your perspective when presented with compelling new evidence. You are a sharp communicator who can distill and explain complex data issues in clear, concise language that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical Depth: You bring a broad background and strong technical proficiency working with advertising data, and you understand how to architect solutions for scale, security, and measurable business impact.
- Integrity and Judgment: You are a model of integrity, with exceptional judgment and the ability to make difficult decisions without hesitation.
- Adaptability: You have a high tolerance for ambiguity and thrive in fast-changing environments where priorities can shift quickly.
- Engineering Experience: You have hands-on experience building production-grade data pipelines, preferably using distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Hive/Hadoop.
- Data Modeling Expertise: You possess deep expertise in data modeling and establishing robust data architecture across diverse systems.
- Speed and Ownership: You flourish in a fast-paced setting and see yourself as a true partner to the business, sharing the collective goal of moving the business forward.
- Code Quality: You write code that is readable, transparent, and clean, taking immense pride in its craftsmanship.
- Autonomy and Independence: You love freedom and dislike being micromanaged. Given the right context, you are fully capable of self-direction.
- Quality Obsession: You are deeply passionate about data quality and delivering impactful data that influences the business.
