[Remote] UX Designer - Magic: The Gathering Arena

They are seeking a digital UX Designer for Magic: The Gathering Arena to craft and own end-to-end player experiences, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship high-quality, intuitive, and accessible experiences for millions of players.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve end-to-end UX design for Arena features from concept to implementation, prioritized by Product Owners and in alignment with the Director of UX
- Design clear, scalable interaction patterns across sophisticated systems (collection, deck-building, events, store, onboarding)
- Partner with cross-functional teams to plan, develop through cycles, and ship player-facing features. (feature design, UX/UI, engineering, art, production, QA.)
- Use design reviews, playtests, player research, and analytics to identify friction and drive measurable UX improvements
- Develop prototypes to validate solutions to de-risk design decisions and align implementation
- Contribute to and evolve Arena’s UI/UX standards (patterns, guidelines, documentation), helping keep the experience consistent as the game grows
Skills
- 3+ years of UX or interaction design experience, with shipped work in games or sophisticated consumer products
- Experience in crafting strategies for intricate platforms and multi-phase processes
- Ability to communicate clearly and partner optimally with design, engineering, and product
- Ability to design for sophisticated systems and multi-step flows, balancing clarity, delight, and constraints
- Proficiency with modern design/prototyping tools—Figma is essential—and comfort collaborating in cross-functional workflows
- Comfort operating in an agile, iterative environment and prioritizing effectively
- Passion for Magic: The Gathering and/or trading card games
- Contributed to a cross-platform UX for live games, delivering responsive experiences that feel native across PC and mobile platforms
- Figma and Unity experience on a shipped digital product (live-service experience is a plus)
- Accessibility experience (WCAG principles; inclusive design audits and improvements)
- Familiarity with the European Accessibility Act (EAA)
- Familiarity with user experience iteration based on data insights
- Experience with research methodologies (e.g., usability tests, interviews, surveys) and interest in helping enable a growing usability research practice
