Position: Senior Content Marketing Manager- Remote (US based)

Overview

At Thorn, our cause is our code. We are a nonprofit whose mission of defending children from sexual exploitation and abuse is deeply embedded within our core—a shared code that drives us to do challenging work with resilience and determination. Here, you’ll work and grow among the best hearts and the best minds in tech, data, and business alongside our network of independent partners, NGOs, and law enforcement agencies. Together, we’re focused on building technology that protects children’s futures. We are looking for dynamic problem solvers with the desire to help address some of today’s toughest issues. You collaborate with a diverse group of peers in a remote environment centered on wellness, care, and compassion. In 2019, we took the stage at TED and shared our audacious goal of eliminating child sexual abuse material from the internet. Come join us to help make this goal a reality and build a world where every child can be safe, curious, and happy. What You’ll Do

  • Content Strategy:

Lead development and execution of a comprehensive, integrated, SEO & AEO-informed content strategy aligned with Thorn’s objectives, along with production of all content and brand assets. This includes blog, social media, podcast, video, email and website channels; research reports, sales enablement materials, and assets for front-line fundraisers. Incorporate interactivity and multi-media delivery, actively pilot and scale new content opportunities and maintain close integration with product launches and growth marketing initiatives.

  • Lead annual editorial narrative planning, aligned with org priorities, launches and external moments, ensuring cohesiveness and efficiency for maximum leverage and impact. Translate Thorn’s complex work in a nuanced issue space into compelling, accessible storytelling that educates, builds trust, and motivates action without oversimplifying or sensationalizing. As the narrative leader you’ll prioritize what stories Thorn tells, when we tell them and have heavy input into how we show up in moments of sensitivity or rapid change.
  • Lead research distribution on marketing channels, driving a shared understanding of evolving threats within our key audiences.
  • Develop and refine distribution strategies to ensure that content reaches the right audiences through the most effective channels, testing new approaches and iterating based on performance.

Establish and maintain archival systems, content governance and regular update cadences. Track, update and share impact stats and other key issue stats.
  • Serve as the final approver for content, ensuring alignment with Thorn’s brand guidelines, messaging standards and quality expectations. Evaluate content for regulatory, legal and brand risk and work cross-functionally to mitigate risk while maintaining momentum.
  • Define, track and report on content performance and impact, tying content initiatives to key outcomes including audience growth, brand awareness, donor engagement and brand trust, and pipeline & adoption support where applicable.

Team & Vendor Management

  • Manage and mentor a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive creative and project management team responsible for content, web and brand activities and assets across Thorn and its products.
  • Manage website agencies, as well as other agencies and freelancers, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.

Website Strategy

  • Lead strategy, management, AEO, SEO and content creation for all websites. This includes Thorn.org and Safer.io as primary focuses, and Thorn prevention websites as a secondary focus.
  • Manage health and integrity of web properties, including ongoing maintenance, updates and ensuring an optimal user experience.
