Internship Opportunity Employer: Anne Arundel County Salary: $16.00 Hourly Location: Annapolis, MD Job Type: Internship Job Number: Exc_NP_Internships26-27 Department: County Executive Opening Date: 06/08/2026 Position Description County Executive Pittman and the County Council approved funding in fiscal year 2024 to build a nonprofit center that provides capacity-building services to help local nonprofits advance the health and well-being of residents in Anne Arundel County. A 13,000+sf building in Crownsville has been renovated to offer flexible, collaborative workspaces for nonprofit organizations. The Nonprofit Center is seeking college-level interns to join the Nonprofit Center team in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 to assist with communications, events, general operations, and special projects. The interns will work in-person at the Crownsville property with the occasional opportunity for remote work. Transportation is required. Dates: Fall - September 10, 2026 - December 16, 2026 (14 weeks) Spring - January 14, 2027 - April 28, 2027 (15 weeks) There is an option to intern in both semesters. Summer - May 20, 2027 or June 3, 2027 - August 12, 2027 (10-12 weeks) Hours: 20-24 hours / week This internship is an extension of academic instruction and provides the opportunity to turn classroom instruction into practical application in the workplace. The intern will draw upon the knowledge gained through their college coursework in order to perform the principal assignment and/or projects of this internship. Examples of Duties and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Internship Opportunities: Nonprofit Center:

  • Draft/edit newsletter articles, organizational spotlights, social media posts, and other marketing materials
  • Assist staff with various office tasks to support resident nonprofit organizations
  • Assist with planning and implementation of on-site programs, events, and activities
  • Ensure meeting spaces are configured and ready for use
  • Research evidence-based services and programs build the capacity of nonprofits
  • Correspond with organizations, county agencies, and the public
  • Complete a special project of interest that benefits the Nonprofit Center or nonprofit sector in Anne Arundel County

The intern will report to Jennifer Purcell, Executive Director of the Nonprofit Center and work closely with other members of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current undergraduate/graduate student at a US-accredited University All applicants/students must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0+. Students are required to upload an official or unofficial transcript to their application to demonstrate their enrollment status and GPA. Note: Applications will be reviewed on or after March 15, 2026, for Summer 2026. Successful candidates will be notified via email upon presentation to the Department. Supplemental Qualifications College Major Preference: Ideal for students studying Marketing, Business Administration, Health and Human Services, Political Science, Civics, Public Administration, Communications, Graphic Design, or related fields.
