Senior Skincare Formulation Chemist - Remote

Our client, a leading innovator in the beauty and wellness sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Skincare Formulation Chemist to join their dynamic research and development team. This is a fully remote, permanent position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. You will be instrumental in the conceptualization, development, and refinement of cutting-edge skincare products, from concept to market launch. Responsibilities include Conducting in-depth research into new ingredients, technologies, and market trends to identify opportunities for product innovation. Designing and formulating novel skincare products (creams, serums, lotions, cleansers, masks, etc.) that meet efficacy, safety, and aesthetic requirements. Optimizing existing formulations for improved performance, stability, cost-effectiveness, and consumer appeal. Performing stability testing, compatibility studies, and challenge testing to ensure product integrity and shelf-life. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product development and scale-up. Troubleshooting formulation issues and providing technical support throughout the product lifecycle. Maintaining comprehensive laboratory notebooks and documenting all experimental procedures, results, and conclusions. Staying abreast of global cosmetic regulations and compliance standards. Mentoring junior chemists and contributing to the overall knowledge base of the R&D department. Evaluating and recommending new raw materials and suppliers. Preparing technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in cosmetic or skincare formulation. Proven expertise in a wide range of skincare product types and delivery systems is essential. You should have a deep understanding of ingredient chemistry, rheology, emulsification, preservation systems, and active ingredient efficacy. Excellent problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and strong analytical abilities are a must. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively collaborate with remote teams and stakeholders. A passion for the beauty industry and a commitment to scientific excellence are highly valued. Experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and FTIR is a plus. This role is based in Houston, Texas, US, but will be performed remotely, requiring self-discipline and excellent time management.
