[Remote] Naval Business Development Manager

Round-Peg Solutions (RPS) is seeking a high-impact remote Business Development Manager to lead growth across U.S. Navy programs and shipyards. This role focuses on building relationships and identifying operational needs in complex defense environments, with significant field travel and autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive front-line growth across U.S. Navy programs, shipyards, and adjacent defense ecosystems
  • Spend ~60% of your time on-site in shipyards and government-adjacent environments building real relationships
  • Open and develop new access points with Navy program offices, prime contractors, OEMs, and key suppliers
  • Identify unmet operational needs and shape opportunities before they become formal requirements
  • Influence early-stage opportunity creation by engaging stakeholders and proposal teams proactively
  • Convert strategy into execution independently without waiting for structured direction or perfect information

Skills

  • Strong understanding of FAR / DFARS and federal procurement processes
  • Practical knowledge of U.S. Navy procurement behavior and shipyard operations
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguity and create structure from unstructured environments
  • Confident, proactive approach to outreach and relationship building
  • Ability to engage credibly across Navy, shipyard, OEM, and supplier stakeholders
  • Prior Navy experience (military or civilian-facing roles)
  • Engineering background
