Our portfolio spans digital health platforms, tele‑medicine solutions, and data‑driven wellness services that empower providers, patients, and partners alike. As a global organization that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning, arenaflex offers a collaborative environment where technology professionals can make a tangible impact on the health of entire communities.

Role Overview

The Principal DevOps Engineer at arenaflex is a senior individual contributor who will shape the future of our cloud‑native infrastructure and delivery pipelines. This remote‑first position reports directly to the Head of Platform Engineering and works across cross‑functional teams to embed DevOps best practices, drive automation, and ensure that our systems are secure, scalable, and highly available. You will be the technical champion for infrastructure‑as‑code, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and observability, influencing both strategic direction and day‑to‑day execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive DevOps strategy that aligns with arenaflex’s business goals, emphasizing reliability, performance, cost‑efficiency, and security.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi to provision and manage resources across multi‑cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS).
  • CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Build, optimize, and own robust CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar, ensuring rapid, repeatable, and safe delivery of applications and services.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Deploy and configure monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging) to provide end‑to‑end visibility and proactive incident response.
  • Security Integration: Partner with security teams to embed vulnerability scanning, secret management, and compliance checks into the pipeline, adhering to industry standards such as HIPAA and ISO 27001.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with software engineers, product owners, and operations teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility; mentor junior engineers and lead knowledge‑sharing sessions.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze pipeline metrics and system logs to identify bottlenecks, recommend improvements, and implement automation that reduces mean time to recovery (MTTR).
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, DevOps trends, and best practices; evaluate new tools and propose adoption strategies that keep arenaflex at the forefront of innovation.
  • Documentation & Governance: Produce clear, maintainable documentation for IaC modules, pipeline configurations, and operational runbooks; enforce governance policies for change management.
  • Business Alignment: Translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring that infrastructure supports product roadmaps, regulatory compliance, and scalability targets.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Infrastructure roles, with at least 4 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Proven expertise in public cloud platforms—Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Azure, and/or Amazon Web Services—with a strong grasp of networking, IAM, and managed services.
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Pulumi) and the ability to write reusable, modular code.
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or comparable tools.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation and tooling development.
  • Solid understanding of container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience deploying workloads in production clusters.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed systems and provide pragmatic, data‑driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of influencing cross‑functional teams and presenting technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications such as Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
  • Experience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk) and implementing SLO/SLI frameworks.
  • Background in security‑focused DevOps practices, including vulnerability scanning (e.g., Snyk, Trivy), secret management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), and compliance automation.
  • Prior involvement in large‑scale migration projects from on‑premises to cloud environments.
  • Leadership experience in building and scaling high‑performing DevOps teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures (Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda) and event‑driven design patterns.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or active participation in the DevOps community.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Automation Mindset: Passion for eliminating manual processes and delivering repeatable, reliable automation.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex problems, identify root causes, and propose scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, comfortable working in distributed, remote environments with global stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in fast‑changing environments, quickly adopting new tools and methodologies.
  • Customer Focus: Understanding of how infrastructure decisions impact end‑users, clinicians, and business outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to iterative learning, retrospectives, and process refinement.
