[Remote] Data Governance Contractor (Senior Functional Data Analyst)

Harnham is a consulting firm seeking a Data Governance Contractor who combines functional data strategy expertise with hands-on Business Intelligence capabilities. The role involves shaping and maturing data governance frameworks while delivering BI outputs such as dashboards and KPI reporting.
Responsibilities
- Create, refine, and maintain enterprise data governance standards and best practices
- Lead the implementation of data stewardship and data ownership models
- Drive data lineage, metadata management, and data quality initiatives
- Assess current data maturity and recommend strategic improvements
- Develop dashboards, data models, and reporting frameworks (Power BI/Tableau/etc.)
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Perform data quality analysis and root‑cause investigations
- Partner with data engineering to validate pipelines, models, and schemas
- Act as liaison between technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Conduct training sessions on governance processes and BI best practices
- Create clear documentation, including data dictionaries, glossaries, and governance artifacts Skills
- 5-8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Analysis, BI, or related functions
- Experience designing or contributing to data governance frameworks
- Strong BI tool proficiency (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Strong SQL and relational modeling experience
- Experience with metadata management, lineage tools, and data quality remediation
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Familiarity with Collibra or Alation
- Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments Company Overview
