Full Time Medical Receptionist with immediate start

We are a busy private GP practice looking for a full time medical receptionist. This role requires varied hours Monday - Saturday.This is a fast-paced GP practice environment, and we are looking for someone who is pro-active, excellent at multi-tasking, efficient, can think outside the box and show initiative. Flexibility is also key.Duties And Responsibilities IncludeReceive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.To work in accordance with written protocolsFax and photocopying as requestedVirtual filing once correspondence/results scannedOpening and distributing post to Doctors, Practice Manager and Finance ManagerReceptionDealing with patients coming into the Practice for appointments with Doctors, Osteopath etc.Booking appointments with patients face to face and via telephone adhering to book on the day slotsRegistration of new patientsProcess patients change of address.Taking accurate and relevant telephone messagesReceiving and giving prescriptions from and to patients always checking their name and address and ensuring prescriptions are circulated to available doctorProcess repeat prescription requests in accordance to Practice guidelinesMake sure that reception and the waiting are always kept tidyDeal appropriately with visit requests and emergency callsCarrying out reception duties as mentioned in the Reception HandbookAnswer phone calls in a professional manner aiming to answer calls within 3-6 rings wherever possiblePrioritising whether calls are urgent or routine and wherever possible deal with requests/issuesEnsure building security (windows closed at night, alarm set, fire doors shut etc.Any other tasks allocated by Doctors, Finance Manager or Practice ManagerKnowledge of private patient membership scheme and chargeable feesResponsibility for handing over any unfinished tasks for annual leave cover so all reception staff are kept informed.CommunicationThe post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication with the team and will strive to:Communicate effectively with other team members.Communicate effectively with patients and carersRecognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.The Post-holder WillContribution to the Implementation of Services:Apply practice policies, standards, and guidance.Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work.Participate in audit where appropriate.If you are interested in this position and feel you have the right skill set for the role, we would love to hear from you!
