Virtual High School Math/Science Tutor - Fall 2026

Requirements: BA or BS with a 3.6 GPA 2 or more years of experience in tutoring Math or Science. 5 to 8 hours weekly for tutoring sessions, typically scheduled between 2 pm and 9 pm on weekdays. Weekend availability preferred. Time commitment of a school year: August to early June. Responsibilities: As an OPEN EDvantage Tutor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Teaching middle school and high school students valuable study and time management skills to enhance their academic performance.
• Assisting students in staying organized and helping them prioritize their most critical projects and assignments.
• Breaking down complex class material into manageable pieces to facilitate student understanding.
• Supporting students in mastering challenging math and science concepts to ensure success in assessments.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of prior tutoring or relevant educational experience.
• A teaching credential or masters degree
• Willingness to commit to 6-10 hours of tutoring per week. Tutoring sessions typically occur between 2 pm and 9 pm on weekdays, with additional weekend availability being a plus.
• The ability to commit to an entire school year, from now to early June.

• Teaching Expertise: Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and explain complex concepts to middle school and high school students in a clear and engaging manner.
• Time Management: Proficiency in teaching valuable study and time management skills to help students improve their academic performance.
• Organization: Strong organizational skills to assist students in staying on top of assignments, projects, and deadlines.
• Subject Mastery: Ability to support students in mastering challenging math and science concepts, enabling them to succeed in assessments.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities to convey information clearly to both students and parents, differentiating instruction for diverse learners .
• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using digital platforms like Zoom to teach remotely, ensuring effective interaction and engagement in virtual learning environments. Familiarity with online tools is essential for delivering interactive and effective math lessons to remote learners.

Interview Process: Our selection process includes the following stages:

• Preliminary Application: Please complete a Google Form to assess your initial suitability for the tutoring role. Also submit your resume, transcripts, a cover letter, and a list of references.
• Interview 1: This first interview evaluates your skills and experience to confirm your compatibility with the role.
• Interview 2: Conduct a simulated virtual tutoring session with a team member to demonstrate your teaching abilities and instructional techniques.
• Interview 3: Conduct a simulated virtual tutoring session with a panel to demonstrate your teaching abilities and instructional techniques.
• Background Check: Successful candidates must pass a background check to ensure the safety and security of our students.
