Senior Underwriter (South Carolina- Remote)

The Senior Field Underwriter will focus on exceptional customer service, the development of strong agency relationships, evaluation, and pricing of risk s , as well as growing and managing a book of business in a team concept. This is an exciting opportunity where the right candidate with established agency relationships in the state of South Carolina will be instrumental in growing and shaping an existing book's future composition. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, foster, and enhance new and existing agent relationships to drive in qualified submissions, quotes and binds to lead profitable agency growth and meet annual goals.
  • Collaborate with all team members including in-house underwriters, and various other departments to manage a designated book of business, providing underwriting oversight to ensure clients receive customer service far exceeding their expectations.
  • Schedule or exceed an expected number of agency visits on a weekly basis.
  • Underwrite and negotiate new and renewal within company guidelines for acceptability, adequate pricing, and profitability, accomplished through sound underwriting decisions and within a designated letter of authority.
  • Documentation of underwriting files within established parameters.
  • Attending agency related seminars, conferences, and events.
  • Preparation of required monthly reports, collaboration on special projects and presentations as required.
  • Regional travel as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field; CPCU and/or ARM desirable, but not required.
  • Ten or more years of demonstrated Workers' Compensation underwriting experience with carrier, or equivalent experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Workers' Compensation Insurance, preferable with Tennessee experience.
  • Proven track record of ability to build, maintain, and foster agent relationships in the state with a focus on South Carolina and surrounding areas.
  • Familiarity with other SE jurisdictions including but not limited to GA, NC, TX, and AL, desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating teamwork capabilities.
  • Good computer skills, excellent communication, and presentation skills.
