Our client is seeking an exceptional Principal Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in advanced manufacturing to join their innovative engineering team in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US . This senior role will be instrumental in driving the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing processes and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in mechanical design, automation, robotics, and manufacturing systems, along with a proven ability to lead complex projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping new manufacturing systems and equipment, optimizing existing processes for efficiency and quality, and developing detailed engineering specifications and drawings. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and production staff, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems. This role requires a strong understanding of industry best practices in manufacturing, lean principles, and quality control. The ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions is essential. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the technical direction of the engineering department. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining collaborative in-office time with the flexibility of remote work. A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required; a Ph.D. is a plus. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on advanced manufacturing environments, is essential. Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA), FEA tools, and familiarity with PLC programming and automation systems are required.
