SDCOE is recruiting for one (1) full-time Special Education Teacher - Visual Impairments (VI) position for the NCCSE SELPA department with the Student Services & Programs division.
The position provides instruction to students with a range of visual impairments within the SELPA in general education and/or special education settings (pull-out or push-in), including home or other natural environments per IFSPs/IEPs.
The current vacancy at NCCSE SELPA will focus on children ages 3 to 21 and will participate in IEP planning meetings. The current vacancy does not require experience working with infants or participating in IFSP planning meetings.
The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) is a multidistrict Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA) composed of fourteen school districts that have joined in a cooperative effort to provide a coordinated delivery of programs, services and assurances to over 16,000 students with special education needs residing within its local planning area.
Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in visual impairment or graduate studies in visual impairment or other related field preferred and experience working with students from birth through twenty-one (21) is preferred. Must have experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team doing assessments, interpreting ophthalmological evaluations, writing intervention plans, and providing family/staff consultation.
Certificates, Licenses, Credentials
- Valid Education Specialist credential with the authorization in Visual Impairment or equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Valid English Learner authorization/CLAD certificate or equivalency
- Valid CA driver's license
- CPR and First Aid certification is highly desirable.
- Resume, detailing education and experience
- Letter of Introduction
- Two (2) signed, current Letters of Recommendation dated within the last year
- Copy of Education Specialist teaching credential with an authorization in Visual Impairments; or equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing ***
- Proof of CLAD certification/English Learner Authorization if not embedded in your credential
- Copy of transcript or degree verifying bachelor's degree in visual impairment or graduate studies in visual impairment
- Copy of Eligibility for Intern Credential letter, if applicable
