Job title: Chinese Studies - Part-Time Lecturer Pool Company: California State University Job description: Chinese Studies Part-Time Lecturer Pool POSITION The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Chinese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics and/or film. Areas of Specialization We are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals to teach in at least two of the following subject areas:

• Chinese Language, Introductory to Advanced
• Chinese Culture, Chinese Civilization, and Contemporary China
• Chinese for Business
• Chinese Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
• Chinese Linguistics
• Chinese Film

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. • Candidates must hold at least a master's degree in Chinese, Chinese Studies, or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Chinese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses, and must hold a Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Chinese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Chinese in order to teach upper-division (300-level) courses.
• Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
• This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments. APPOINTMENT AND SALARY All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,405 per month The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $5,436 to $6,486 per semester. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments.
