Job Title: Environmental / Wetland Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Wetland Scientist to join our team, supporting our environmental portfolio. With over 50 years of experience, we are one of the largest multi-disciplined consulting engineering firms in Northern Virginia! The position offers training by our current Professional Wetland Scientist in Winchester, VA, with the option to work out of our Ashburn, VA office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements, including individual and team field evaluations.
  • Prepare technical reports and maps using ArcGIS or CAD.
  • Write proposals and manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring quality standards on all project deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to business development and mentor junior staff.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience and project management.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and processes in Virginia and West Virginia related to land development.
  • Proficiency in field techniques for wetland delineations, plant identification, soil sampling, and threatened and endangered species studies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Wetland Delineator (Virginia PWD) certification preferred.
  • International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (ISA-CA) designation preferred.
  • Ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Physical capability to perform fieldwork year-round in various weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
