Part-Time Engineering Technician

- Operate in the TMC to facilitate safe and efficient movement for roadway users.
- Continuously monitor traffic flow in the vicinity of events and construction zones and determine when and where it is significantly impacted.
- Determine the appropriate signal timing flush plans to improve traffic flow; implement timing and phasing changes.
- Investigate traffic related issues and dispatch field personnel.
- Support the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) including the fiber optic and network equipment.

- Associate's degree in Engineering or related field.
- Three years general engineering experience.
- Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- May require a valid California driver's license.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks, track details and work well under pressure.
- Team player and ability to work with staff to complete tasks and projects.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes after normal City business hours that may extend past midnight, weekends and holidays.
- Experience working in a TMC and traffic signal systems.
