The Role

As a Data Engineer (L5) – Customer Service, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that drive business insights and inform customer service decisions. You'll work closely with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to build scalable data solutions that meet the needs of our customers. Your expertise will be essential in transforming raw data into actionable business metrics, identifying trends, and optimizing our customer service investments.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and develop reliable, scalable data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)

• Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to build data-driven solutions that meet customer service needs
• Develop advanced data models that adapt to changes in source data or business processes
• Write clean, supportable code in Python or Scala, with a strong focus on data quality and analytical aptitude
• Analyze business problems and prioritize autonomously, with a strong communication and partnership skills
• Work closely with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to drive business decisions and optimize customer service investments

Essential Qualifications:

* At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)

• Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that adapt to changes in source data or business processes
• Advanced SQL skills, with a strong advocacy for data quality
• Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code
• Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize autonomously
• Strong communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work closely with analysts, engineers, and business leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with custom visualization tools that surface customer service insights

• Strong understanding of data quality and data governance principles
• Experience with data warehousing and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git)
