Research Analyst

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The Research Analyst will investigate, analyze, and evaluate crash data to support planning and maintenance decisions, while also preparing maps and conducting safety analysis.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyze, and evaluate crash data for use in making planning, programming, design, and maintenance decisions
• Collect, study, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and draw conclusions and make recommendations
• Conduct safety analysis, prepare maps, project scoping, layout review, and permit and plat review

Skills

• A bachelor's degree in math, statistics, data analytics or a related field OR one year of professional (MAPE 05L or higher) statistics or data analysis experience OR two years of technical experience
• Experience developing reports and/or graphics to explain data
• Working knowledge of databases and spreadsheets, including Excel
• Experience collecting, researching and analyzing data
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
