Reporting to the Director of Peer Connections, the Program Coordinator for Tutoring Services performs duties under general supervision and takes work lead direction from the Program Director for Tutoring Services to achieve specified outcomes. The Program Coordinator for Tutoring Services assists with developing cohesive tutoring services by utilizing technology and strengthening connections/relationships between Peer Connections and campus partners. Tutor specific training will be developed in partnership with the Program Director for Tutoring Services to meet the International Standards of the College, Reading, and Learning Association (CRLA). Further, the Program Coordinator for Tutoring Services will support the Program Director for Tutoring Services in overseeing the scheduling, administrative tasks, training and mentorship for the Tutor Team. This position will also support outreach and general Peer Connections services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists with the development, planning, coordination, and assessment of the tutoring program designed to support student transition and retention.
- Stays informed through higher education literature and research regarding retention and institutional policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with campus entities on events that promote tutoring and academic success.
- Reviews and updates documentation for peer educators to be used during training and as resources through the year.
- Collaborates with other departments and colleges to provide effective learning assistance and represents Peer Connections as requested on committees and related activities that focus on tutoring issues.
- Responsible with special staff privileges (i.e. use of office, phones, keys, office equipment, supplies etc.).
- Supports Program Director with recruitment, hiring, training, directing, supervision, and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate student interns.
- Collaborates to design and implement tutor training that meets International Standards of the College, Reading, and Learning Association (CRLA) including theoretical and practical applications.
- Assists the coordination of the CRLA International Tutor Training program certification for Peer Connections.
- Monitors and manages student employee work hours to ensure they are not exceeding allowable work hours in a week.
- Supports the coordination of the department's use of EAB (Spartan Connect) for scheduling, tutoring, and reporting.
- Receives, processes, and directs all communications (mail, email, phone calls) to appropriate persons in the unit or to other departments.
- Collects, analyzes and maintains data to be used for statistical reporting for the Program Director
- Assists in the development of culturally appropriate and accessible marketing and publicity materials such as flyers, emails, newsletters, posters, presentations, brochures, videos, websites, and social media platforms.
- Writes, edits, and manages tutoring content on center website and social media platforms.
- Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner
- Ability to acquire knowledge of organizational procedures and activities of the department
- Ability to create and facilitate student development and study skill programming
- Ability to develop and deliver appropriate learning support strategies

- Knowledge and understanding of the various technology platforms used in the University's online learning environment
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field
- Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
