HR Operations Specialist

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-17

About Sunrise Group

Sunrise Group is building the future of sleep health by combining breakthrough technology with expert care. We started in 2015 with a straightforward idea: sleep diagnosis should happen in the comfort of your own home, not in a hospital. To make that possible, we created a first-of-its-kind chin sensor, carefully validated through clinical research, reviewed by leading sleep experts, and cleared by the FDA.

Since then, Sunrise Group has grown from a single innovation into a complete sleep health company. We now design advanced diagnostic and treatment solutions, and we deliver care directly to patients through Dreem Health, our digital sleep clinic. By serving patients in all 50 states with reimbursed care, we are making sleep treatment more accessible, more personal, and much simpler than it has ever been.

Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly detail-oriented and pragmatic HR Operations & Payroll Specialist for our U.S. people operations. In this role, you will be the primary expert on payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR administration, ensuring our processes are accurate, compliant, and built to support growth.

You will work closely with leadership and managers across the company to translate complex HR and legal requirements into clear, practical guidance, while supporting systems that make the employee experience smooth and reliable. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with People managers and stakeholders, staying ahead of regulatory changes, and operating in a small, fast-moving environment.

At Sunrise Group, we work on a problem that affects millions: poor sleep and untreated sleep disorders. Our mission is to make diagnosis and care easier to access, and we’re proud of the experience we provide to patients. We feel responsible for making it better every day. If you’re looking for the autonomy to take ownership of your work, make an impact, and be part of a team where ideas move fast and everyone has a voice - this role is for you!

    • Ensure correct exempt / non-exempt classification and supporting documentation
    • Maintain U.S. employment policies, offer letters, and handbook content

Benefits Administration

    • Administer U.S. benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and FSA/HSA plans
    • Manage open enrollment end-to-end
    • Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions
    • Partner with brokers and HR leadership to review and improve benefit offerings

Manager & Employee Support

    • Provide clear guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and processes
    • Translate complex legal or policy topics into practical, understandable information
    • Build and maintain simple, scalable HR processes
    • Support a consistent, high-quality employee experience through reliable operations

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in HR operations, HR generalist, or people operations roles with a U.S. focus
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal employment law and experience supporting multiple states (California is a strong plus)
  • Hands-on payroll experience, including running or directly managing payroll
  • Experience administering benefits programs and managing open enrollment
  • Ability to work independently and own processes end-to-end
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort handling sensitive information
  • Clear communicator who can explain complex topics to non-experts
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team without a large HR department
