Remote Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Remote (U.S. Only) Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure our databases. The ideal candidate has expertise in database management systems, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and ensuring data integrity. This is a fully remote role, but applicants must be based in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Monitor database performance, security, and availability.
  • Perform backup and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and database structures for efficiency.
  • Manage user permissions and ensure data security compliance.
  • Automate database tasks using scripts (SQL, Python, or Shell).
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support.
  • Work with development and operations teams to optimize database usage.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Spanner).
  • Experience with database automation and scripting (SQL, Python, Bash).
  • Understanding of backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of data security standards and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
  • Certification in AWS, Microsoft SQL, or Oracle Database Administration.
