Position Description:

Bridgenext is seeking an experienced Databricks Engineer to design and deliver scalable, governed data platforms supporting analytics and AI use cases in regulated enterprise environments.

This role is hands-on and delivery‑focused, working closely with business stakeholders, data owners, and analytics teams to build trusted, high‑quality data products.  Candidates must have strong production experience with Databricks and a proven track record delivering data solutions in banking, insurance, wealth management, or other regulated domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog
  • Develop ingestion frameworks for structured and semi‑structured data from multiple enterprise sources
  • Create reusable, curated data products aligned to enterprise data models
  • Implement data governance, data quality, and security controls across the data lifecycle
  • Optimize data pipelines and models for downstream Power BI consumption
  • Partner with data owners, analysts, and business stakeholders in agile delivery ceremonies
  • Enable analytics and AI workloads using trusted, well‑curated data assets
  • Ensure compliant handling of sensitive financial and health data

Workplace: This is a remote role requiring full-time Eastern timezone working hours and quarterly travel to the Toronto office.  We are able to hire in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, or British Columbia.

Must Have Skills

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience in enterprise environments
  • 3+ years hands-on with Databricks in production workloads
  • Strong expertise in PySpark / Spark SQL
  • Deep experience with Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and Databricks performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and quality controls
  • Experience delivering solutions in regulated industries (banking, insurance, wealth/asset management preferred)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience integrating Databricks with Power BI
  • Exposure to AI / ML workloads supported by Databricks
  • Prior work in financial services, insurance, or healthcare data environments

Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Bridgenext provides a reasonable range of compensation, based on full-time employment, for roles that may be hired as described above. The current salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000 CAD annually. Our comprehensive total rewards program goes way beyond a competitive salary.
