[Remote] Business Development Representative

They are seeking a highly motivated entry level Business Development Representative to drive growth by generating and nurturing qualified leads in the state and local government sector.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Outbound Sales DevelopmentConduct outbound prospecting through cold calling, email, and LinkedIn outreach to state and local government prospectsResearch target accounts, agencies, and stakeholders to identify decision-makers and sales opportunitiesBuild and maintain targeted prospect lists aligned to priority markets and active campaignsExecute daily outreach activities to support pipeline generation goals
  • Lead Qualification & Sales SupportConduct qualification calls to understand high-level business needs, current challenges, and buying timelinesAssess prospect fit based on defined qualification criteria and route qualified opportunities to the sales teamSchedule introductory meetings between qualified prospects and sales leadersMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach, conversations, and outcomes in CRM
  • Marketing Partnership & Campaign EnablementPartner closely with the marketing manager to support demand generation campaigns through targeted prospect outreachSupport follow-up outreach for marketing-driven leads from webinars, events, and conferencesProvide feedback on campaign messaging based on prospect conversations and objectionsShare insights from sales interactions to inform content themes and targeting strategies
  • Pre-RFP Research & Market IntelligenceConduct pre-RFP research on state and local government agencies, including budget allocations, funding sources, and procurement trendsAnalyze public-sector budget data, strategic plans, and historical RFP activity to identify emerging opportunitiesIdentify patterns and trends across agencies that can inform prospecting priorities and campaign focus areasDevelop and share research-based insights and campaign ideas with the marketing team to support data-informed planningMaintain summaries of key findings to support sales positioning and early-stage opportunity development
  • Reporting & Continuous ImprovementTrack and report on outreach activity, qualification outcomes, and research findingsContinuously refine prospecting and research approaches based on performance and feedbackBuild expertise in public-sector procurement cycles, funding mechanisms, and buying behaviors

Skills

  • 1 year of sales experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or IT services
  • Experience conducting meetings with leads with the goal being to gather basic business needs to qualify the lead
  • Self-starter, able to execute independently and work cross-functionally
