Apply by May 3, 2026 An educational court immersion program for individuals exploring careers in law, justice, or related fields ABOUT THE COURT The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States. The Court’s 582 judicial officers and its dedicated workforce of over 4,600 full-time employees serving across 36 facilities work purposefully and seamlessly to achieve the mission to provide equal access to justice to all of Los Angeles County. At the heart of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County is commitment and collaboration between team members who contribute professional skill sets and meaningful work experiences toward the goal of serving the community at large. ABOUT THE SUMMER JUDICIAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Program Dates: June 8 – July 31 Program Type: Unpaid Internship This eight-week program features virtual educational sessions led by judicial officers, partner agencies, court staff, and other professionals involved in the judicial process, along with daily opportunities to observe courtroom proceedings in person and remotely across a variety of case types, including family law, criminal, probate, traffic, civil, etc... The program provides structured exposure to courtroom procedures, legal terminology, and courthouse operations through presentations, discussions, and observation. Participants also have opportunities to engage with key court stakeholders, including judicial officers, partner agencies, and courtroom and operations staff. Note: This is an observational, educational program and does not include hands-on or work-based duties. PARTICIPATION FORMAT Participants may choose to participate in one of two formats: Hybrid - A mix of in-person and virtual attendance (you will be assigned a home courthouse location where you will report several days a week, and have the opportunity to register for guided in-person visits to other courthouses. The remaining days of the week you will participate virtually) Fully Remote - Will only be participating virtually (this includes attending virtual presentations and participating in virtual courtroom observation. You will not be able to register for any in-person activities) SCHEDULE Participants may choose between the following schedule options (These options apply to both hybrid and fully remote participation and reflect how much time participants anticipate being able to dedicate to the program): Part-Time - 15 hours per week or more (hours & days can vary) Full-Time - 35-40 hours per week PLACEMENT AREAS (for hybrid participants) Individuals participating in the hybrid format will be assigned to one of the following courthouse locations for the in-person component of the program. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their location preferences during the application process.

WHO SHOULD APPLY? The program is designed for individuals considering a career in law or a law-related field who are not currently enrolled in law school, as well as those seeking a deeper understanding of how the judicial system operates.
